And it has begun!!

So I had my first day of classes yesterday, and my second day was today. They are all pretty good so far. I'm definitely going to have to start remembering stuff for College Algebra. I'm really going to have to study in there.

Composition 2 I think will be all right. I will have to write two major essays and two major research papers. It's basically just a bunch of reading and writing, but that's what I love to do.

I have this class called University Seminar. It's not a hard at all. It's like a class to help me transition into college smoothly and develop good study habits. It's gonna be easy.

I'm also in a class called Spiritual Formation that is a requisite for graduation, but I also think it will be a fun class. I have to read one book and do a reflection paper over it. I've already started the book Captivating by John and Stasi Eldridge. It's good so far. Then I have to read one more book, but no paper over it. Then we are assigned different parts of the Bible to read and we have to do a project called My Spiritual Story. I think I'm really going to like that class.

And I'm in a class called Physical Fitness and Wellness. And on Thursday I get walk/run a mile and a half. I'm not really looking forward to that. But I think the class as a whole will be good for me because I'm dreading putting on the freshman 15, and we have to keep track of how much we exercise and such. I went to a work out class yesterday and let me just tell you, I am very sore today.

Then my last class I had today was American Government and Politics. The professor is absolutely hysterical. He has ADHD, and he told us that today. But he's great. I think I'm really going to like that class.

Well, that's kind of an overview of my classes. I have two on Mondays and Wednesdays, four on Tuesdays and Thursday, and one class on Fridays. I can't wait to sleep in on Friday. My class isn't until noon!! Yeah!!

I'm slowly but surely adjusting to living on campus and being away from home. It's still weird, as I'm sure it will be for a long time. But I'm not homesick like I thought I would be. I've made so many new friends already. And today when I was walking back to my room after government, these three big ole football players started talking to me. I love how no one here knows me. No one here cares who I was in high school or where I came from. Two of them were freshman and one was a sophomore, but they were so nice to talk to. They were black, but I'm discovering just how awesome God is that he created that race of people. They are so different and fun.

Well, dinner is calling and my tummy is hearing it. I guess I'll write back later.
For now,
Jana

Tomorrow's the Big Day.

After such a long time of wanting college to be here, I start classes tomorrow. It doesn't seem possible that it's finally time for me to start classes. I just can't believe it. I only have two classes tomorrow so that's not too bad. I'll be done at 12:50. But then on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have four classes. But on those days, I'm still getting done like at one I think so it's not bad at all. Next semester, I'll really have to take some more hours.

I went to Wal-Mart today to get some stuff for my room. Even going to Wal-Mart here is different from my home town. I know it will take some time for me to get used to everything. I did fill up with gas today though and it was considerably cheaper than what it costs where I live.

I almost feel like I've been at church camp, and I'm waiting for when it's time to go home. But that's not going to come for awhile. I did meet my suite mates though and they are super sweet. So it helps having someone who is older who wants to help whenever we need it. Pray for my strength during the hard times, and pray for my parents as well. It is very hard for them right now.

Well, I've got other things to do and take care of.

Here are the pictures!!!

The first picture is of me and my parents saying goodbye on Thursday. The second picture is of me and my roommate. The third picture is the back half of our room where our desks and the fridge is. The fourth picture is my roommates side of the room. And then the fifth picture is of my side of the room. Yea for pictures!!!

I'm ready to get the show on the road.

So I'm here at college, and for the first four days, they have this thing called Welcome Week. It's supposed to be something to make the transition from home to college easily. I just think they want to keep us feeling like the little guy even more. We're in these groups and we have group leaders and all this stuff. It's a little church campy. I guess it's okay. I'm just glad it's not like that all year long. Monday classes start and Welcome Week will be over. Last night was my first night in the dorm, and I slept wonderfully. I woke up thinking I was at home in my bed, but then I had to remember that I was really at college. That will definitely take some getting used to.

We had to take this test today to basically what we know and what we remember from high school. Afterward, I met a few of my professors. I also got to talk to a student here who is a Senior. She is involved with this thing in this town called KLife. It's a ministry that college students get to invest their lives in the lives of Middle and High School students. Since I have surrendered to work with teenage girls, I really want to get involved with this. The girl I talked to also shares my passion for teen girls. I'm so excited I met her. She's going to help get me involved and she is also a English major. What do you know? It's a God thing.

The people here at the school are so friendly. I also met two other girls, one a sophomore, one a junior, and they are really sweet. They are two of my group leaders. The sophomore took me over the library today before lunch. She's also an English major and she works at the library. She's really sweet, and she's a twin.

I haven't taken any pictures yet, but they are soon to come. I want to show you my dorm room and I'll take some with my roommate. We're both in our room right now waiting for our next activity that starts in around an hour. I love having breaks in between stuff. I know I will be getting in a lot of naps this year.

I just need prayer right now for my family and for me. Keep my parents and brother in your prayers and keep me in your prayers. I want to know God's will for my life, His plan for me. I want to have an open heart and mind to understand it when it is revealed and to follow it.

I'll talk more later.

Move In Day!!

Well, I am officially a college freshman. I moved in today, and I said goodbye to the parents. I have never seen my dad cry so hard before in all my life. It was such a shock to me. I knew he loved me, but I just didn't know he would take it so hard.

My room looks so cute, and my roommate is so sweet. Our colors matched perfectly. Today was a busy day, but I think tomorrow is supposed to be busier. But I love it here. Everyone is so sweet and nice.

Well, I just wanted to briefly update. I will have more to say when classes start.

Tomorrow...it's only a day away.

Well, tomorrow I leave all of my life that I have known this far behind in my little hometown. There are parts of me that are nervous, but there is an equal part that is very excited to be out in the world and on my own.

Yesterday, I spent the majority of the day cleaning my room and getting all of my college stuff ready to go. Today I am running errands and taking care of last minute stuff. My room looks so bare right now. It doesn't seem possible that this time next week I will be sitting in a classroom on the campus of my university.

I have talked to my roommate quite a bit in the last few weeks, and I already know that we will be perfect together. She is so sweet and loves to talk. We even have the same color scheme for our room and we hadn't even planned that.

I'm going to miss my family and all my friends, but just like it says in Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything, and this is my time for something new and inexperienced. I will keep the blog updated as best as I can.

You know how the college life can be!
